7 Wedding videography mistakes couples need to avoid
There are not really 7 mistakes to avoid. The only real mistake is not having a wedding film shot for your big day. But since we have your eye reading this post, here are some of our best tips:
- Be sure to hire a filmmaker that can create what you like. Low budget films are pretty much low budget wedding videos.
- Schedule your hair and makeup artist very early in the day, I’ve actually seen wedding ceremonies with no bride, as she was upstairs getting hair and makeup ready,
- Schedule your florist early in the wedding day, last minute setups can prevent us from shooting the beautiful details that make your film extra amazing.
- Day time weddings are simply the best, the best light is what makes your film look dreamy and beautiful. A video that looks like “Night Vision” is not recommended. We do have our recommendations for proper lighting at your wedding, and your wedding planner needs to know what we need to properly expose your video. Low light is ok, but dark or dim won’t work well. We can coach you to get it just right.
- Allow at least 30 minutes alone with your film maker before the ceremony. No bridesmaids, no photographers, just you and the filmmaker. Be creative and have a pre-plan of what to do with this special time.
- First Look. Thats really the best way to spend the day with the person you are getting married to. We highly recommend a first look.
- Plan on having fun, stress monsters show up all over your face, then you look mad in your wedding film. We’ve never had that happen on one of our weddings, but imagine if it did.
